Do You Schedule the Important Stuff?

Take a look at your family calendar… If you’re like many families in America, it’s probably filled with a ton of commitments. From baseball games, to dance class, from piano lessons, to art camp there’s a good chance it’s pretty booked. But is it booked with church? Bible studies? Family game nights? Just a night on the couch? A date night? It can be easy to stick with our scheduled commitments while easily changing up our plans involving what are often the more important matters. Here are some thoughts:

  • Schedule important things like church, family events, etc. the same way you do a baseball game. Put it on the calendar and do what you can to keep it.
  • Get your kids involved picking events they would like to see penciled in. You might be surprised to find a fun night home with you is preferred over some elaborate event.
  • Evaluate the calendar. Does it reflect the important things in our family?
