4 Ideas to Enhance Your Bedtime Routine

What does your family’s bedtime routine look like? Toothpaste splatters, clothing explosions, and a lot of “let’s go! It’s time for bed!”? Having a consistent nighttime routine can be huge for your family and offer opportunities for discipleship and connection. Here are some things to consider:

  • Use timers, clocks, etc. to keep everybody on track (have a schedule)
  • Take time to read a book and/or the Bible
  • Take time to hear prayer requests and pray together
  • Don’t ignore connection time in an effort to go catch up on your favorite show… Kids will often want to stall going to bed but it can also lead to them sharing important things about their day, deep questions they may have, or problems they are dealing with. While I’m not suggesting pulling an all-nighter to hear every detail, consider cherishing this time as a way to connect deeper and grow closer.
